What Do I Need to Do to Vacate a My Storage Unit?

Getting ready to move out of your My Storage unit into your new home!  Here’s a quick guide to make the process smooth and stress-free.

  1. Give Notice:
My Storage in Richmond asks for a minimum notice of 14 days before you vacate.
  2. Clear Out Your Unit:
Remove all items and leave the My Storage Unit completely empty. Be sure to take everything with you, including boxes, shelves, or rubbish.
  3. Clean the Unit:
Sweep your unit and leave it in the same condition as you found it. At My Storage we check and clean each unit so that it is ready for the next client.
  4. Remove Your Lock:
Remember to take your padlock with you. If your unit is locked and we can not gain access you will be charged for this time.
  5. Let Us Know You’ve Left:
Once you’ve moved out, pop by the office, send an email, or give us a quick call to confirm. We’ll close off your account and process any refunds if applicable.
  6. The unexpected:
If the unexpected happens and you cannot move as planned. Let us know and we will work through it with you. My Storage likes to be flexible in arrangements and to help.
